Why is the Eames Lounge Chair considered expensive?

The Eames Lounge Chair is considered expensive due to its licence agreements with the holders of the intellectual property right. The direct decendants of the designer duo Charles and Ray Eames are demanding high licence fees for every chair which is produced by the two companies holding the production als distribution license. Although the materials are of high quality, the price cannot be justified only by the materials and labour costs.
